1.  POLICY STATEMENT

a. At Lexis School of English we are committed to protecting the privacy of all those who share data with us. The purpose of this privacy policy is to outline how we collect and use personal data and how we safeguard students’ privacy. It also gives details of how students can inform us that they wish to restrict the use of that data.

b. This policy will be the subject of continual review and we recommend that students regularly reread it in case of any updates.

c. This policy was last updated on 10th October 2019 and the next formal review is due to take place on 10th April 2020.

2. WHO WE COLLECT DATA FROM

a. Lexis School of English collects and processes data from the following groups of people, as part of its daily operations and/or to comply with its legal obligations. Please note this list may not be exhaustive.

* Students

* Parents / legal guardians of Under 18s

* Homestay providers and Au Pair hosts

* Staff members

* Visiting group leaders

3. TYPES OF PERSONAL DATA PROCESSED 

* Full name

* UK address

* Home address in your country of origin (students only)

* Telephone number

* Email address

* Details of emergency contacts in UK and your country of origin (students only)

* Scan of official travel document e.g. passport or national ID card

* A recent headshot photograph as part of your student registration

4. HOW WE KEEP YOUR DATA SAFE AND PROTECT YOUR PRIVACY

a. All your personal information and ID documentation will be kept securely and is strictly confidential. Our school systems and servers/ data are protected and encrypted.

b. Lexis will never share any of your personal information with 3rd parties, unless we are required to do so by UK authorities, such as the Police or immigration authorities.

c. It is our responsibility to take reasonable steps to keep your data safe and protected in accordance with the GDPR regulations 25th May 2018 (General Data Protection Regulation). 

5. CONSENT

a. By providing us with personal data, you consent to Lexis using that data in accordance with this privacy policy. The policy will be regularly updated as outlined in the Policy Statement section. Your continued use of our services will be taken as acceptance of these updates.

6. KEEPING YOUR PERSONAL DETAILS UP TO DATE

a. It is your responsibility to ensure that we hold the correct information for you. If any of the details outlined in Section 3 change, you must let the school know. The easiest way to do this is to log in to your Lexis student account. Alternatively, you can email us at info@lexislondon.com

7. PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEOS

a. Lexis or our representatives may take photographs and videos during class or on social activities, homestay visits etc.

b. You may also be asked to participate in video testimonials during or at the end of your course for educational and / or marketing purposes.

c. We will never use your full name and may use an alias, if you wish, to safeguard your privacy.

d. If you do not wish to appear in any educational and promotional materials please inform us by email info@lexislondon.com at the time of booking.

e. You can update your preferences in this regard at any time by logging into your student account or by email.

8. USE OF COOKIES

a. Most website browsers accept cookies automatically to enhance your user experience of our website.

b. You can usually alter the settings of your browser to prevent automatic acceptance. If you choose not to receive cookies, most parts of our site can be accessed but you may find certain pages may not work properly or may be slow to load.
